A shoe collaboration between Iris van Herpen and United Nude. Already saw these several months ago on a friend who modelled them, and even though they are indeed very outrageous, I do like them a lot. Did hear even the true fashionistas couldn’t walk in them, so I don’t know if that makes them worth the $1.295,95 price tag. Exclusive model, only 100 pairs made.

Absolutely incredibly amazing…….the Bas Kosters runway show. The energy, the bird masks, the bright mismatched colors, the ‘real’ models, the animations; WOW. I knew that I just had to get to visit this show, as I was already sure it was going to be the best show of Amsterdam International Fashion Week, and it sure was! The final was very energetic as well, and Bas himself even did a performance together with his boyfriend, surrounded by tropical animalistic models crawling over the runway… A big thanks to Steven for making me join him.
Furthermore there were of course a couple of the world’s most known fashion bloggers, including The Chic Muse, The Cherry Blossom Girl, Miss Pandora, Fashion Squad, Stylescrapbook, all invited by Fashiolista. I’m still figuring out how to upload the video I shot…Made one of the final including the performance, but even though it’s HD and .MOV, I can’t seem to upload it through Flickr or YouTube…. does anyone know how to?

What I wore to the Fur Free event. Not too fancy, just something comfortable and warm to move and switch temperatures in. Excuse me for the wacko face……it had been a long day…… Second picture of the top people of the organization: Jojanneke and Femke! For me, Amsterdam International Fashion Week started off with volunteering at the event in Hortus Botanicus organized by Fur Free, an organization that is against the fur industry. Just got back, and have to admit it was a fantastic evening! The crowds were nice, the drinks were good, the presentations were perfect and the tours were done really well. We well succeeded tonight and I guess everyone’s really proud of what we have accomplished. Designers who designed pieces for the exhibition were Bas Kosters, And Beyond, Lew by Leemans and Wicker, Antoine Peeters and Hester Vlamings.
There was even a group of pro-fur protestants! How hilarious! That just lets us know how big the anti-fur movement has already become. Furthermore lots of press (tv and photography), let’s say I’m very curious about those results :)
Now off to bed, to get up early tomorrow for work, and my second day of AIFW directly after that. With a friend I’m going to Non by Kim first, and after that we’ll be visiting Collectie Arnhem.
Update: The Fur Free exhibition is open for public now, till January 29 at Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam (near Waterlooplein)!
