Mainly because of Tanguy, our great guide (who also is a personal shopper, the first male one in Belgium) we won the hunt, and got to spend a really nice coupon in a store we could pick out of three. As Yara rather wanted to go for clothing at Hospital or Louis, I went to Elsa, to spend mine. After searching through the shoes for a little while, to find something that really interested me, I noticed a pair of shoes standing in a corner on the floor.
Of course, I have heard about United Nude before, and have seen their designs, but I wasn’t familiar yet with this particular version. The elegant and classic black lace-up shoe, together with the architectural aluminium signature heel. I adore them!
Elsa itself is a rather new label of shoes, bags and belts, the first collection got created in 2007. The label is a collaboration between Els Proost (you can read a lovely poem about herself here), Belgian ex-shoe and accessories designer for Dries Van Noten, Emporio Armani, Maison Martin Margiela – and Angelo Penazzato, Italian ex-shoe producer for several famous labels such as Costume National, Hussein Chalayan, Angelo Figus and many more.
The designs are somewhat simple, but made with craftmanship in order to create comfort, which results in a unique and elegant type of shoe. You can find Elsa at Nationalestraat 147, in Antwerp. The labels which are currently being sold in the shop are the following: Elsa, Fiorentini & Baker, Hussein Chalayan, Angelo Figus, Roberto Del Carlo, United Nude, Nathalie Verlinden, Ellen Verbeek, Chie Mihara, Vialis, Neosens.
