Hippie-dress

juli 3, 2008

Bought this vintage dress already a few months ago, but I still haven’t taken the time to shorten it. I bought it at Episode in Rotterdam, and though it actually costed €25, I got it for €20, because of several holes in the fabric. It doesn’t look really nice in this way, just remember the fact I’m shortening it!

Vintage Austrian floral dress

juni 24, 2008

At a little gothic-dominant vintage store called ZigZag in the center of Roermond I bought this original Austrian dress. As I just recieved my paycheck and the fit was perfect I allowed myself to buy it. It costed me €38,50, which might look not that much, but it quite much to me though. I also still need to change some things, like buttoning up the ‘hole’ in the front (which you can’t see in these pictures by the way). The hole is supposed to be there, because a piece of fabric or something needed to be in that place, but of course not quite neccesary in my life.

Second picture shows true color.

Cute design!

FrouFrou’s floral dress

juni 21, 2008

As I just loved the print I absolutely needed to own it for those few euro’s, though it’s a size L. I knew it was that big, but didn’t really think of that when buying it. This vintage cutie may look quite small in the picture, but is a lot larger than you’ll probably imagine. Cute anyway!

Thrift shop buys

juni 18, 2008

I got these things at the thrift shop already some time ago, no, a LONG time ago, but hadn’t posted them yet. Actually I should have not bought these, because I just really don’t have the space to store them! I just bought, bought and bought, without thinking if I actually needed them or could store them. But that’s just me. And now I want to get rid of these things, as all my buys are piling up, haha. Selina, if you see my room you don’t think YOU are the one who lives like a pig anymore. I am.

I bought space to store things. Yes I did. But I don’t store jewelry in jewelry cases. It’s just the fact that these were so low priced, and I THOUGHT I could use these for storage. Thought. I don’t. Look, I even bought a metal hook, for jackets or something. Why would I need ONE hook?

This print was just to cute, though it’s quite large, which is the main problem. My dad told me every one had this painting in the seventies in their living room.

I just couldn’t resists these records. Mostly because of the design though. Now I have 5 records lying on the floor of my bedroom. Why should I need records? I don’t have a record-player.

OK, so I bought the porcelain ballet flats because I can’t resist shoes, and the porcelian cat because I can’t resist porcelain cats (I even collect them). But why did I buy a chandelier and a tray? Probably because of the fact the chandelier was dirt cheap, and the tray just because I couldn’t resist the print of the tiny roses in the center. Just because of that. Those are quality-less reasons!

I bought these because of the granny-feeling, and the little one because it’s made out of snakeskin. But still, I don’t need them! Still, I can’t store them!

Do you guys have the same problem with buying things because they are dirt cheap though you either can’t store them or need them? From now on I will be going less to the thrift store, to save myself from buying things I don’t need (not because of the money, but because of the storage), and when I’m at the thrift store I will first put the item back and then consider buying it, about ten times, and finally walk away from it.

Vintage eBay wannahave

These vintage military jackets are selling for $300 on eBay these days. So you’d better search for one at the thrift store and just replace the buttons.

Vintage skirt to dress

juni 15, 2008

At Laura Dolls in Amsterdam I bought this skirt at the skirt section, priced only €25 (which is cheap over there) intended to wear as a dress. Personally I think it looks so romantic a fairytale-like worn as a dress, I felt like an angel when wearing it. All the layers of lace and embroidery are beautiful. Pictures of me coming soon.

Red leather suitcase

After wanting a giant red leather suitcase for about 2 years, I finally found one! And even for free (OK, I got it for free with 15 bags, haha). And otherwise it would have costed me only €0,50 anyway. I actually wanted to buy all of them, about 10, but I guess I don’t have enough space to store them.

At least now I can travel with proud, proud of my ‘new’ suitcase, not that ugly outdoor kind-of-green-thing-made-of-canvas my grandmother bought for me last year. Sorry, it’s just really ugly. And did you now this red beauty has even been to Indonesia? How cool!

Also bought this cute tiny pictureframe for €0,20. I just can’t NOT buy anything old that has to do with cats. I even collect small porcelain cats.

Coachella 2008 - Part three

Perfect for any occasion, though it does remind me of funerals.

Amsterdam

juni 7, 2008

Edit: By the way, still no modem.

Together with my ‘boss’ at ilovevintage I went to Amsterdam last Thursday, firstly to discuss the next editorial shoot. Though most of the time we spent shopping some cute vintage goods.

At Episode I found a jacket which was just so ugly, I needed to own it. A gorgeous gay dude at the paydesk told me he’d like to take a picture of me, so he could send it over to his boss for Episode’s new business card, but he unfortunately forgot his camera. Because I did bring a camera with me, I’d told him he could use mine, so I could email the picture at home, and so we did. The business card with my picture will go to all their shops in Europe, and because that’s already like ’oh-so-bad’ (?!) I can probably come back in some time to get myself an outfit for free, haha. Isn’t that just so cool? I don’t know if I may publish the picture though, so I won’t.

You’ll get to see my vintage buys in a week I guess, but here’s my outfit already.

Dress: Customized vintage
Jacket: H&M
Tights: C&A
Heels: Zara
Bag: Friis&Company
Studded belt: Hallhuber

I took a picture of my gorgeous ‘boss’ but because she wants to remain to be some kind of ‘mistery person’, I can’t post it here. Too bad, because she’s just the cutest girl ever, just like a doll. Though, I am able to post this picture below, of her. She bought the vintage baby-dress for the baby she doesn’t have yet, but come on, it’s so cute, right? How beautiful will it look in a frame, or just hanging on the wall? And how fab are those Maison Martin Margiela see-through plexiglass wedges?

A married couple

This is the purse I told you about, the one I asked to marry me. I noticed it a work, and told myself I couldn’t buy it, because I already own too many, but after two days of non-stop thinking about this vintage cutie I took it home and gave it a place where it can live in joy. To me this really is the most gorgeous bag ever, a Miu Miu couldn’t even compete with it.

Coachella 2008 - Part two

All wearing vintage dresses, exept the second girl. Absolutely love the dress of the last girl.
