Oh my, oh my, oh my, you should see me sitting right here. I’m just so exited because our modem now finally works, after 7 weeks I can finally use the internet again at home. I’ll immediately start writing updates.
Still here
I really have so so so many pictures to still show you. And words to tell too of course.
After more than 7 weeks, our modem has finally arrived, though it doesn’t work yet. Can’t wait! I feel so bad about posting only once or twice a week, I was always posting every single day.
One nice thing, I’m in Vogue Girl Korea (and yes I’d love to show you my interview, but don’t have the time to because I’m not at home).
Oh, and I graduated from high school.
Need to go! Bye!
Warm wishes,
Renée
Austria & Italy
From the 9th of July till the 23th we’ll be going to Austria and Italy. Guess I’ll be able to post, but approximately only twice a week. Can’t wait, because I really need a break! And luckily we’re staying in hotels&appartments, I’m done with campingspots. We’ll probably be going to two spots in Italy, but right we only know Lago Di Garda / Lake Garda (City: Salò) is one of them. Maybe we can even go to Milan for a day, it’s not that far away from there. Damn I’ve got butterflies in my stomach while writing this, can’t wait!
Austria, Nenzing

Italy, Lago Di Garda / Lake Garda, Salò

Birthdaygirl
My birthday was actually yesterday (April 29th), but I was late home from work and not really able to post anymore. This post, including pictures, is about yesterday.
I went to Eindhoven again, for ilovevintage.nl, and needed to do styling AND model at the same time, as all the models are on holiday right now. My boss already told me I needed to do so last Monday through the telephone, but I didn’t expect to model yesterday already, so it was a bit of a surprise, haha. As I always need to photograph at home all by myself (outfit-shots) it was quite weird to actually being photographed by someone else.
I my opinion it didn’t went tótally great, but I guess OK, though I really hate the fact my hair looked COMPLETELY yellow in the shots and even dirty, though it looks ‘normal’ on the shots I took myself (the outfit-shots in this post). I just washed it the same morning, and at the pictures of the photoshoot it looks like I didn’t wash my hair in 2 weeks.

After the shoot I needed to add new vintage clothing to the webshop for the first time and we were done by 19:30 (7:30PM). The train was delayed, so I got myself some fries as I also hadn’t eaten for a while and catched my train by 20:15 (08:15PM), in Venlo I took the bus by 21:20 (09:20PM) and I was finally home at 21:45 (09:45PM). It indeed takes me some time to travel home, but luckily I don’t mind travelling.

I already called my boyfriend if he still wanted to come, and he did, so we were ‘home’ at the same time. As I’m celebrating my birthday next Friday I didn’t expect him to already bring me a present but he did. He knew I needed a new perfume, and he knew I really liked The One, by Dolce&Gabbana, though it’s not really the cheapest perfume. Still, he bought it for me. Lucky girl.

I celebrated getting this delicious gift by making myself a delicious cocktail. A mix of cassis syrup, Martini, red wodka and energy drink.

Finally, a real fashion job
Yes, it’s true, since about two weeks I got myself a new job, the owner of ilovevintage.nl contacted me about it, through my blog. We had lunch in Eindhoven at Bagle&Juice (delicious) at Friday the 12th in Eindhoven and after that we went to the office and I could immediately style a photoshoot. Faranak, the owner, absolutely is the most adorable girl I’ve ever seen, I should have actually taken a picture of her and have posted it here.
The shots I used for this post are all styled by me (just some examples).

Last Friday, I styled another vintage shoot, which was again really great to do. In total, I’m doing these things:
- Styling (Pick out a vintage item that needs to be sold and make it a complete outfit/look, on a model)
- Photography (Still need to be taught how to, but I’ll be doing this in a while)
- Customizing vintage (Vintage which isn’t really nice to be sold yet, which I make more unique and attractive)
- Designing clothes (Personally design and sew dresses, skirts etc.)
Styling is great of course, but the thing I think is the greatest is the fact that my designs are actually going to be sold in the shop! I’ll of course tell you when they’re available.

I still have a job in Designer Outlet Roermond, but when Faranak comes back (she’s on holiday right now), and everything works out OK at ilovevintage, I’ll quit at the outlet center. I will miss my colleages though, but my new fashion job is just definately better. Though, having thousands (literally!) of vintage shoes, purses, belts and pieces of clothing around you isn’t really the best for your wallet, haha.
This is what I wore the day of our appointment by the way:

My first statuette
Last week I received the statuette I won with my fashion show, and here it is. It’s called the Silver Spotlight. I did win several prices with contests, but I never won a real statuette, so I’m really happy with it.

Fashion show & debut of my Selina-dress
First about my dress. I bought this vintage prom beauty from Selina a while ago, actually a quite long while ago, but I wanted to wait till the right time for showing off this cutie. I love the tight black body combined with the oh-so big ruffle skirt. The skirt has some kind of polkadots on it, only these are squares, not dots. I felt great in it! And even my dad thought the same way and couldn’t stop saying how good it looked on me! Yes, my dad!

Today was the day of my fashion show in Sittard. This morning I forgot the time had changed, it was an hour later than expected, so I got up at 10:00, instead of 09:00. Problems. I didn’t have the time to do my hair, and just clamped it together, and some other things I still wanted to do couldn’t be done.
I was happy to have those kind (and tall) models (though one didn’t show up, but it worked out well finally), but I really need to prepare myself better the next time. The models did really well, very nice girls, but because it was my first show ever, some things went wrong, but that was my fault. A big thanks to my models, again! Though, it was a good experience, and like I said I can only get better, I learned a lot of today.

My dad couldn’t really shoot some good pictures, so I’ll have to wait till the photographers put those on a website. There were some really good fashion shows, but hey, those were from Fashion Design students. I didn’t really think it was fair that the limit was set at ‘18 years old’ instead of ‘high school’, as that would definately be more fair, because I as a 16 year old was now competing against some real Fashion students.

Isn’t this picture a bit Princess of (Punk?)Rock or something? Haha. Promdress and a biker jacket, I think they look great together. By the way, I went ‘all’ black because my models’ outfits were all very colorful.

ArtEZ
As this look was quite much adored by all of you, I wore it to my admission for Fashion Design at ArtEZ Arnhem, a Dutch Academy of Arts. Unluckily I didn’t get through the admission, as they thought I was too young and not ’developed’ enough. I couldn’t prove otherwise, cause their first look at my work determined the rest. Too bad they worked that way.
It was really bad they only looked at the number of my age. “17 in a month? So you’re only 16 right now?”. You know, in that way. They didn’t even think of me being possibly more mature than others of my age. I lost my mother at the age of 13, the time you actually really start developing, and then suddenly you are alone, wihout a mother supporting you. Everything I do, I do it on my own, I’m so independant, but they only see the number 16.
First I got quite emotional, but after an hour I just thought “So what, life goes on and I only get better by the day”. I didn’t post last night because I just wanted to watch television and have nothing to do with fashion for one night.
Edit, 22:02: There are only 44 places by the way, 2 classes in total. So out of the 800 applies, there isn’t a big chance you get in.

Vote for me!
Wordpress doesn’t work properly yet, so I still can’t upload my shots.
I would appreciate it A LOT when you would vote for me at Stockholm Streetstyle! The website’s Swedish, but you just need to click the little dot with “Rösta på mig här!”. It only takes a few seconds, but I would really appreciate it if you would vote for me!
These are the links to my latest contributions (all open in a new window):
Outfit 1 - outfit 2 - outfit 3 - outfit 4 - outfit 5 - outfit 6 - outfit 7.
Thank you!
Do you know
- I’ll probably be the only one who thinks Katherine Heigl is ugly?
- I’m soooo into Steve Madden right now?
- I hate my town and province I live in (yes you probably already knew that)?
- I’m even going to post pictures this week of my neigborhood to illustrate in what kind of boring place I live?
- I can’t stop buying vintage?
- I downloaded a dozen of funky old Michael Jackson songs yesterday and can’t stop listening to them?
- I can’t get the vintage 50’s blazer out of my head I found last Saturday and still don’t know whether I’ll buy it or not as the price of €45 was quite high to me?
Best personal streetstyle shot of February at ilovevintage.nl
Yep, I won another contest :) For a month you could send in your best personal outfit shots at ilovevintage.nl, a Dutch vintage webshop. They chose my outfit of February 23, and I won this €25 gift certificate for their webshop!
Send in your’s now too, for the month March. Another gift certificate to win!

I sent in 5 pictures in total, and they even chose 4 to put into their lookbook.
P.S. What a busy week for me right?
A big thanks to you, my readers!
I want to thank you all for the comments, and all the ones that check out my blog on a daily basis, on a weekly basis, and of course the ones that found my blog just by today.
It really makes my day to hear those warm and sweet thoughts of you!
Last Sunday and Monday (I really need to thank N.E.E.T. mag for this) I had 2000 page loads (1000 unique visitors) both the days. That’s the double number of visitors I usually get.
A BIG THANKS, for everything!
Ideas for my upcoming fashion show?
As you know I need to do a fashion show March 30th, and I’m still looking for some ideas. I of course already have some, but wanted to ask you how to show the theme ’secret’? I thought of masks, but maybe you know something great too?
And about the music; I already thought of a great mix I have of She’s Fresh, from Kool & The Gang. Maybe you know a nice electro beat, possibly anything to do with the theme, ’secret’?
Plus, the models. I recieved 5 emails in one day, which I thought was absolutely great, but I’m still looking for some! Here’s a copy of what I wrote in the other post:
“I need models! Someone interested in walking the runway in one of my designs on March 30 in Sittard? I will probably walk too, but I will need at least one model for every 2 designs.
You don’t have to be a size 34/XS! A 36/S is great and if you’re really tall, a 38 would work too! This is just for the experience and for ones that think it’s fun to do for a day, I’m not searching for paid models, cause I can’t afford that as a normal student.
Please e-mail me at contact@fashionfillers.com!”

FashionFillers in N.E.E.T. Magazine!
Last month I did an interview with N.E.E.T, for the new March issue, #10. It’s finally online today! I needed to answer about 10 questions, though they only picked 5. And I answered with a lot more words, but they shortened it a bit, so some sentences are a bit otherwise than I actually wrote.
This issue features some European bloggers; Le Blog De Betty from France, Ambugaton from Finland, Emma’s Closet from Sweden, Szafa Sztywniary from Poland, and I from The Netherlands. I’m really honored to stand between those fab blogs! And thanks N.E.E.T. so much for featuring me!
I’m on page 46 and 47. And unlike in the article, I’m still 16 for two months, so not yet 17.
