With rockabilly and hippie for Summer. And gladiators of course. I searched for cool vintage at eBay till 04:30 AM last night, couldn’t sleep. And now all the stuff I found is making me go crazy and exited.
Blogging
Sorry for not writing anything yesterday, but I was too late home from work (outlet shop) to do so. Today we´re celebrating my birthday, and I actually wanted to post yesterday´s shot this morning, but the computer doesn´t want to switch on. Because of that I´m posting this through my dad´s notebook, on which I´m not really able to upload, edit and post my personal daily shots. Sorry!
Outstanding student thing
By the way guys, I believe I said it a bit the wrong way, about the most outstanding student-thing. I meant outstanding as in looks, as in appearance. Sticking out, eye-catching.
That’s why I thought it would be funny to show my future grandchildren, haha. “Look how granny looked back in the days.”
Yesterday’s gala
You’ll get better shots in some time, but for the moment I’ll have to work with these.
During the afternoon I polished my nails (classic red), washed my hair and did my make-up (also just classic; black mascara, black eye-liner, matte brown eye-shadow and foundation). Then, at 18:30 (06:30 PM) I put on my dress, and 5 minutes later my vintage beauty ripped open (15 cm’s, about 6″!) and I had only 20 minutes to fix it (and iron it afterwards too)! I was stressing out and got all muggy (< is that the right word?) but I fixed it on time and was at my friend’s place at 19:00 (07:00PM).

My friends and I just definitely had the most beautiful car of all! Look at this gorgeous oldtimer in which we went to our gala! And the chauffeur, isn’t he perfect? I already knew the car was an oldtimer and I knew it was black, but gosh, how exited was I when seeing this car! I dreamt about it looking like this, but definitely didn’t expected it to look like this indeed. How cute is the trunk on the back.

So, in a procession (< correct word?) we went to DOK6, where our gala was. There were like thousands of eyes staring at you, and I can’t really describe whether that was annoying or funny, but yes it was BIG. Two porters opened ‘our’ car’s doors and we stepped out. GOSH, that was even a BIGGER happening. It felt so weird to walk on the red carpet with hundreds of people on both sides (1 meter away from each other, us walking in the center), all watching you and it seemed like it lasted forever, though it were ‘only’ about 30/40 meters.
When we ‘finally’ arrived at DOK6 we needed to walk past the teachers which was again BIG as they were all looking at you up and down and up and down, haha. Then we got inside and were brought a drink, which tasted quite good (it was a mix of champagne and I guess red wodka).

Vintage beaded and sequined cocktail-dress, patent Italian peeptoe platforms, vintage glass earrings with gold painted lining and a patent vintage purse. I took this picture this morning, as it’s more detailed.
I bought coins for €20 as I expected to buy some delicious drinks like Martini and stuff (which are quite expensive), but when I got in, I found out they were only selling beer, wine and soda! I don’t drink beer because I think it’s disgusting, soda isn’t really the thing for a party, and wine makes me quite tipsy quicky. But yes, I chose for wine and got a bit tipsy indeed, haha.
The room where the party was looked quite nice, but besides a ‘big band’ there wasn’t really anything to do, I expected much more. I chatted with my teachers a lot, which was nice/interesting/funny (also got a glass of rosé of one of them), but furthermore I didn’t really do much because I thought the rest was quite boring. Some 60-year-old guy with a moustache was staring at me the whole evening, not just looking but really non-stop staring, which was annoying, and when the party was over he even walked over to me and started chatting and flirting, freak.

I took this picture when I got home at 02:30, being quite tipsy and not being able to stand straight for ten seconds, haha.
And I don’t know what our ex-caretaker took or drank, but he said the same thing to me for 6 times; “Hey Renée, I saw your pictures in De Break!” (our school’s magazine), and “Oh, how nice you did came though!”. He also couldn’t stop asking me to dance with him.
Anyway, the beginning of the evening was exiting, but the rest wasn’t that special and I would rather have gone with my boyfriend to a big party of his school in a giant discotheque. Too bad I missed that chance.

A bat
Look what was hanging outside on our wall a while ago. I was doing some photography and at some point noticed something weird hanging on the wall. So I looked closer, and saw some ears and wings sticking out, haha. After two days, my dad took an even closer look, and touched it with a stick or something. It just fell off, the bat was hanging there dead. I thought it was quite creepy, because I never see any bats around here.

Damn, OK!
I got quite sick of the comments, saying that I should not ask my readers to vote, so here’s a quick explanation.
- The website which settled the contest, tells you to ask your readers to vote for you, so that why I was asking you.
- I would love to be this a fair contest, but it’s just NOT. I would love to get people to vote for me because of the outfit itself, but because you get told to link your picture on your blog, to ask people to vote, I needed to do this too, because others were doing it, and otherwise I wouldn’t get enough votes to win.
- The reason why I wanted to give away the designer stuff, was because others were doing this too so I would never have the chance to win if I wouldn’t do this too. It was just really unfair others did, but I so desperately wanted to win the prize, that I did too, because I just wouldn’t have a chance otherwise. And I would love to give you something in return for your votes!
- I have posted the same sort of posts and the same amount as usual, only those ‘voting-posts’ too. So it’s not like I was posting less regular posts, OK?
It’s not like I always do what everyone does or anything, but I just desperately wanted to win, and there was no chance I would if I wouldn’t do this myself. Though I hated doing this!
I hope you’ll understand, but because I don’t want to loose readers, I’ll quit doing this. Unluckily with that comes that I won’t give away the stuff. If you don’t understand, please just leave, because I heard enough. And don’t even think of posting a negative comment after this explanation. Yes I am mad, so just don’t.
Fire
Yesterday I photographed our fireplace from very close. Here are two shots of the twenty ones I made, the first one is my favorite.

UGG’s do more harm than only to your appearance
They even kill. So please stop buying them. OK, to be true, not because they ‘kill’, but because they’re just so darn ugly! UGG’s are made to wear at home, when it’s cold, or you just want to wear something comfortable, not to wear out at the streets.
Source: The Sun (UK newspaper).

A WOMAN was killed by a train after her Ugg boot got trapped on a railway crossing.
Her boyfriend and a brave passer-by pulled her free but watched in horror as the train hit her at up to 50mph.
The 29-year-old victim – whose first name is Kelly – got stuck as she tried to cross the tracks after the crossing gates had shut.
One of her trendy Ugg boots got caught between two wooden slats intended to keep animals off the line.
Snow?
My cat Romeo really enjoyed the snow, it was the first time he met the white powdery cold stuff. He was totally fascinated by it, and wanted to cath each snowflake.
So, I put him on the table, and he just didn’t know what to do. Like “Oh my gosh, here’s even more. What the hell do I need to do with all this?!”. And then, after a few minutes, he ‘discovered’ snow at the top of a chair, and there was no way he wasn’t going to hit it off the chair. There was snow everywhere, but he only wanted to get the snow that was laying right there, he didn’t care about the rest anymore.

Inspired by boredom
I slept a bit, I sewed a bit, watched tv for a bit and surfed on the internet a lot. As my outfit was inspired by boredom, it wasn’t a very interesting day furthermore either. And it rained all day long.
The cardigan, which I found at my grandmother’s, is really oversized, though it looks quite normal here. Too bad you can’t see the pleats and stuff. I’m looking down, not closing my eyes. And I wore jeans, WOW.

This gigantic vintage scarf is the second one of the two I bought last weekend (at ZigZag). Looks how big it is in real! But oh so beautiful.

Cardigan: Second-hand
Scarf, watch, bag, brooch: Vintage
Earrings: My design, selfmade
Jeans, top: H&M
Boots: Unisa
And don’t our two dogs look just too cute on that shade of blue? Lol.

Dressing up can be deadly
Everyone should read this great article I found at Fashion156. I came at that website because of their interview with StyleBytes’ Agathe. The article below isn’t Agathe’s one!
Dressing up can be deadly, by Guy Hipwell
“My first memory of dressing up resulted in a nasty bang to the head that I honestly do not think I ever recovered from. I was aged around five and nearly broke my neck toppling down the stairs wearing my aunt’s super high stilettos. Luckily I have grown out of girl’s shoes, although I did once own several pairs of platforms that gave me agonising backache as they were so high and uncomfortable. Worn with huge Oxford bags, they were followed by shiny green and brown “flats” that were so wide they resembled two kippers, and forced me to walk as if I had two dinner plates strapped to my feet.
My best friend and I used to dress identically at this time and walked to town every Saturday with our matching patchwork sweaters clashed with super wide flares in orange, green and blue candy stripes. Oh yes- and we also had matching Labrador puppies; it all kind of worked well on my friend, but there again she was a girl!
Wardrobe Remix
I signed up for Flickr (and so, Wardrobe Remix) today, but how come my shots don’t appear at Wardrobe Remix? Does anyone know?
Fashion design workshop including Bas Kosters
Yesterday was absolutely amazing! Really, what an experience to be together with about 50-60 people, all interested in fashion (design)! Wow.
OK, the day itself didn’t start THAT nice. I needed to get up at 06:00, to be at the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam at 11:00. So, at 07:37 I caught the bus, and about an hour later the train. The train arrived too late in Amsterdam, because of a delay. So I couldn’t catch the next train, to Amsterdam-Lelylaan, either.
Still, I walked to the platform, but like expected the train was gone. I saw two girls standing there, packed with overweight bags, which I thought had fabric in them. So I approached them, about the train, and about the workshop too actually. Gladly, they were also too late. Together we figured out which train to catch. So, we ended up at Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport), haha. We needed to get out the stop before, but there weren’t any signs we were already at Lelylaan, and there wasn’t a train announcement. At Schiphol, we took the next train back, walked about 10 minutes, and were finally where we needed to be, the World Fashion Center.

It looked better in real actually, the room was so large, this is just a really small part of it.
Most of the girls (and only one boy) were already there, on time, unlike us. We had to choose a sewing machine and all started to work on our designs. Although I have a map of about 30 designs, I picked the one that I came up with when I got up that morning, haha. I never seem to make anything I draw, only designs I suddenly come up with.

This fashion design student immediately caught my eye, gosh she looked wonderful! Too bad you can’t see her hair that well. The first part is white, second part green, and last part purple. You might think “What the hell?!”, but it looked gorgeous on her! The dress really reminded me of one of my own vintage floral dresses. It’s almost exactly the same print, right?
Some fashion design students, of Artez Arnhem, walked around to offer us help. After a few hours, we got the most delicious sandwiches, all with vegetables and cheese or meat. I picked one with cucumber, rucola and brie (French cheese). Although this sounds stupid, I was quite exited about that, cause I expected the normal kind of soft sandwiches with cheese or meat, but they looked really exclusive.

Another part of the space and another student. She actually taped her 15cm heels to her feet.
Then, after another while, we all got to meet Bas Kosters (Dutch couturier) in his studio, and he gave us all sorts of information about his own shows (which are anything but normal) and gave us tips what to think about at our final shows (for the Kunstbende). His studio is really small, but so amazing because of all the colors, and funny stuffed animals (which he makes himself), and even because of the mess. And, it’s on the 13th floor, with the most beautiful view all over Amsterdam! I also took a look in Mada van Gaans‘ studio, which was 6 times larger, and she was even there herself!
After the tour, I went back to Bas Kosters, and asked if I could take a shot of him in his studio. He’s such a nice person by the way. Too bad he took off his great cardigan, just before I asked.

At the end, all the finished designs were shown by some girls, in a some sort of runway show. Together with the girls I met in the morning, I went back home. They are also from Limburg (province), so are my opponents in the qualifying round!

And I need models! Models, models, models! Someone interested in walking the runway in one of my designs on March 30 in Sittard? I will probably walk too, but I will need at least one model for every 2 designs.
You don’t have to be a size 34/XS! A 36/S is great and if you’re tall, a 38 would work too! This is just for the experience and for ones that think it’s fun to do for a day, I’m not searching for paid models, cause I can’t afford that as a normal student.

My stupid kitty cat and his boyfriend
My dad wasn’t at home, so I allowed Sita (dachs hund) and Romeo (cat) to walk around in our living room. I thought it would be sweet to put them on the couch together (on a blanket of course). I lay them down and they just stayed there, next to each other. How sweet. Then, after an hour, Romeo stood up and just sat there (weird pose), and kept looking at me like an idiot. A Chinese one to be more specific.
