Crystal and gold thrifted lamp

juni 6, 2008

I was already so into this lamp for a long while, but it was one of the only few things that weren’t being sold yet. There was a tag with the text ‘Not for sale’. I already asked the shop owner once about it, and she said she was going to sell it, but just not right now.

Like on several Wednesdays, I went to the thrift store looking for new arrivals, and the beautiful beloved lamp jumped up in my face. Again, I asked her about selling it.

Me: “WHEN you’re going to sell it, how much will you ask?”
She: “€2.”
Me: “I’ll give you €5 right now.”
She: “I need to think about that, there already asked me a bunch of people about this lamp.”
Me: “So what about €8?”
She: “Okay, you’ll get it for €5. I’m not into ripping you off.”
In my head: “Yeah, I got it, I got it, she likes me, she likes me :)”

The lamp itself is behind the middle gold part, so it’s not a candle or something but a real lamp. And the beads are real crystal, not plastic or glas. Two beads are missing, but I’ll fix that.

Making up the Christmas tree

januari 7, 2008

Sorry for being so late with this post, but I haven’t really been at home that much, so that’s why I couldn’t upload it before. I took this picture while making up our Christmas tree. As you can see I wasn’t finished yet. Our tree is actually a lot bigger than in this picture, quite weird. Or maybe this just seems cause I’m tall.

Skirt: Selfmade, my design
Print-shirt: H&M
Turtleneck: Vero Moda
Tights: Hema
Boots: Unisa
Jewelry, accesories: Vintage

And late too: Our Christmas decorations

I actually need to say that a lot of the decorations are there the whole year, lol. First picture is of the ‘completed’ tree. I know the shape looks quite stupid, but it costed only €1,50, so.

Wall painting

december 17, 2007

A girl asked me today about the painting on my wall she saw in a previous post. So here it is, the full shot. The D stands for David, my boyfriend, and the R is of course for Renée, myself.  I painted it about, errr, a bit more than a year ago.

How I store: Belts

december 6, 2007

Sorry for not posting yesterday, but I didn’t have any time.

Because I’ve got 72 belts, I need enough room to store them. This is where and how: On the inside of closet doors, and in every corner of my closet.

On my chair, because there’s no room left. Plus in a basket, on another closet, for the large ones, that don’t fit anywhere else.

Thrift shopping!

december 2, 2007

I found out there’s a thrift store in the same place I go to school, so immediately went there. Too bad they don’t sell clothes or bags, but I did found some really cute things. I bought 8 little porcelain kitten sculptures (just bought all they had) and one of a dachshund (I have a real one, so that’s why). I’m starting a porcelain kitten sculptures collection, I just love cats. I paid just €1 for all of them! I also bought a little footstool (with a beautiful old pattern) for my room and a coat and hat rack.

Then, I found out they did have jewelry and grabbed 10 things. All tiny things were just €0,25 each and the necklace costed only €0,60! Like oh my god. I’m so in love with the turquoise bracelet! It’s really wonderful! Then I bought 2 dishes to hang on my walls. For all these things I paid just €16!

All 10 sculptures: €1
Footstool: €6
Coat and hat rack: €5,50
Necklace: €0,60
Pins and bracelet: €0,25 each
Two dishes: About €1

How I store: Bags

november 25, 2007

I can’t store them, already for years now. Soon, I will be getting a 17th century closet from my grandma, so I can finally store them. Nowadays, they’re hanging at the ends of my curtain rail and lying on the floor.
