Quite a while ago I re-started posting my NYC pictures, and forgot about it. I will continue again, so here are the next three shots I personally took.

From the boat, to Liberty Island.

Back to the skycrapers again.
With my Geography class I went to Rotterdam today. First we had a long walk through old/cheap districts, got soaked by rain (yay!), and continued our walk to the center. Then we had about 1,5 hour to shop, which was more fun, and I got myself a cute cardigan at H&M and a vintage hippie dress at Episode (you’ll get the pictures by tomorrow). After that, we had a boat trip through the gigantic port of Rotterdam (yes, really GIGANTIC), and I bought myself a delicious slice of apple cake.

A extraordinary small view on the port.
During our outward journey in the bus we watched Wet Hot American Summer, about a summer camp in the 70’s. The movie was just so corny that it was really funny to watch.

But, during we traveled back home, we watched Brice de Nice, a French movie. It definately was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. It was corny too, but just on a non-funny way. After having seen that last movie you’ll never want to buy anything yellow either, by the way.

Dress, bag, scarf: Vintage
Jacket, cardigan, belt, earrings: H&M
Tights: Hema
Shoes: Bullboxer
Of beautiful New York.

At the 9/11 monument. I love all the lights, the action, the life, which is still there at night. NYC is The City That Never Sleeps, but why not City Of The Lights too? Why is Paris called like that, as it would be more appropriate to call New York that way?

My second day.

Taken from the exact same spot, only this one’s from a different corner. I totally fell in love with the old-ness and colors of the building, combined with just a little hint of yellow graffity, the lamp and the Broadway plates. It’s not the kind of Broadway most people think of when hearing this name.
As you know, all I can think of since last September is New York City. So I truly went totally mad when looking through these beautiful sets with shots of Manhattan, of WishByNight at Flick’r.
It really reminded me of my personal shots, and there was no way I wouldn’t post them again. So in the upcoming weeks, I’ll be posting my own shots of NYC. All in the right order of my trip. Here are the first two. No, let’s make it three, otherwise I’ll never be finished.

One of the first meetings with ‘busy’ New York.

Also taken from the bus (through the windows while moving, so not the best quality), in the area Chelsea in Manhattan, where our hostel was too.

Tiles for America, by night. A close-up of the monument for 9/11. For the ones that still don’t know what 9/11 is, it’s the day that the two airplanes crashed into the WTC buildings. For the ones that do know what this means and ask themselves why in godsname I need to tell some; you’ll understand why I need mention this, when I say that I know a girl who also went to New York, who thought Ground Zero was a shopping mall.
I’ve added this great blog to Best Streetstyle Blogs: Altamira NYC. Oh, it’s so fab to see ‘my’ dearest city back. Can’t wait to move!
New York streetstyle isn’t that fab or something one the whole, but some people do catch my attention. When I was there in September last year, I was quite - no, réally - dissappointed cause I expected much more, believe me, almost none New Yorker dresses up. Maybe one at a thousand. Most of you will think Dutch people suck at fashion and New York is streetstyle capital of the world, but it really isn’t like this. But still I soooooo want to move there!

I really get butterflies in my stomach when I think of Paris. I believe I just SO need to go there, don’t you think? But I don’t have the money! (I just found out today I have only €1,15 left at my bank account, and will get my salary January 31. So long time without anything!) I already been there once, when I was 10 or something, so I can only remember Disneyland. No, I do remember the city itself, but we didn’t really go shopping.
I think I will go with my boyfriend during the summer holidays. Cause I will have money then, I believe, oh, at least I hope… Shall I already start saving money? On my next paycheck? No that doesn’t work either, I planned to go to Amsterdam with my next salary.
Probably I will get my Google-Adsense-’salary’ next month, which will be $100, about €68. Shall I save those euro’s for the summer holidays? At least it’s a start.
Flea markets

Picture: Flea market at Vanves.
I found three flea markets on a website written in a “Je vould like une ‘amburger”-type of English. I translated it a bit to normal language. Click Continue Reading to see the full post.
Last part of my New York ‘adventure’.

Planet Hollywood, where we had dinner our last night. It’s like McDonalds, only 3x the price, better taste, plus a waitress. At one moment my head appeared on all the 30 large LCD-screens… While eating. Pictures of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge, Chinatown and Little Italy. The last picture was taken in a cab. Why? Our transport didn’t come, they were still not there after 1,5 hour. So we decided to take taxi’s, all 24 of us. When we arrived at the JFK Airport, we were half an hour late for the check-in, but luckily could go further. Then we needed to go through the customs and needed to take everything off, exept clothers, but including shoes. We all got examined and one person of our flight got arrested (not from our group), he was just soooo guilty. Then we boarded and needed to wait 1,5 hour again - in the plane - because there was a traffic block: 20 planes needed to go up before ours.
Oh damn, I’m so willing to go back! I am definitely going to move to New York when I am able to!

Inside the Empire State Building and on top of it (86th floor). Wonderful view, but after 15 minutes I was already bored and wanted to go down.

Ground Zero, which is quite emotional to see. Picture taken at the World Financial Center (marmer and real palm trees). Poster of all the members of the fire-brigade who lost their lives at 9/11. In the middle to the left you can see a model from what’s coming at Ground Zero, 5 buildings, including one with a high pile. Under that one you can see two times the same building, just one day after each other. On the picture to the left the Dutch premier, Balkenende, was there (Dutch flag). On the ‘Public Parking’ picture you can see the parking rates. Want to park your car for one hour? $17 please.

More Times Square, more ads. In a shop you could get 7 T-shirts for $11. OK, you could choose from 7 prints, on white tees, but still. Furthermore the famous Coca Cola truck, the Trump Tower (full of marmer) and a church (yes, those churches are just between the most modern skyscrapers).

Another picture of the Trump Tower, plus: inside the tower. Iran’s president visited New York too and I really don’t want to know how much money it costed. Ridiculous. Demonstrations, TV buses, the police’s Harley Davidsons. You can see security with machine-guns on the roof, in SUV’s (constantly circling around), they were everywhere. Not feeling quite safe.

The beach and playground at Coney Island, where we got a tan. Skyline, Times Square.

Five times Times Square. Including me, M&M World - yes, from M&M boxershorts to an M&M filled wall - and a lot of ads. Meters and meters up in the sky. It’s like you’re in daylight at night.
In New York, I especially took these pictures for The Darialogist, who recently asked if she could copy one of my Daria-pictures. This is for you ;) Daria Werbowy/H&M on buildings and buses, everywhere in NYC. By the way, look how big the first one is, notice the yellow van.

Part 3 - last one - of my buyings in New York. I bought the ‘I love NY’ thermos flask and map for my dad, as souvenirs. At H&M I bought the flowered tunic, but discovered at home it’s not quite symmetrical… I also got the grey dress there, it’s a few shades lighter than on the picture. At Forever21 I bought the light yellow/off-white cardigan for myself and a blue/grey T-shirt for my boyfriend. At Times Square I bought the hoodies - one for both - and the white T-shirt that’s also as asymmetrical as hell. By the way, I wanted an ‘I love NY’-shirt, but mistakenly got an ‘I love NYC’-shirt.

Thermos flask: Somewhere at Times Square, $10
Map: $7
Flowered tunic: H&M, $25
Grey dress: H&M, $15
T-shirt for bf: Forever21
Cardigan: Forever21, $18
Hoodies: Times Square, $15 each
Shirt: Times Square, $3

High buildings and skylines by night, more beautiful when you’re actually sitting there, but still very nice.

Macy’s, the world largest store. Beautiful green parks everywhere between the skyscrapers. Pictures below are taken at Coney Island, where we also lay down on the beach. Hot dog eating contest: Female record is 39, male record is 66! I really don’t know how this is possible, cause it’s not just the hot dogs, but also the sandwich. Crazy people. Other picture is showing the famous yellow American schoolbus, which I’ve seen a lot. You can only buy fruit in little stands outside, furthermore you can only get fastfood. Oh, I’m so in need of a hot dog right now.
