Back in September, I did an interview with the Chinese magazine Little Thing, and today I recieved the mag with the final feature (together with Alix and Fifi Lapin). The entire magazine is just really adorable, so I’m happy to be featured on even four pages. Unfortunately the outfit shots are all pretty old, and most of the shoes pictured are ones I never wear, but I don’t mind that much, it’s still really great of course. You can download the full magazine on their website, after you register.
As most of you probably can’t read any word (me neither, so I don’t know if it’s all translated the right way), I wanted to post the interview we did, in English, but unluckily I can’t find it anywhere… It would be great if someone could translate the piece. Edit: Shanshan did a translation for me, thanks again!

“Spring Closet Diary
Spring is coming. Is your closet ready to be turned inside out? After taking off heavy coats and thick boots, do you want to be a elegant lady or stylish girl? Let us check some unique looks from the independent designer Alix from Paris, and stylish Dutch girl Renée Sturme.
Do you want to know what kind of spring style loved by the most fashionable rabbit Fifi Lapin? Do you want to know Fifi’s one-day mix match, the most closed friend and favourite designer? No secret for Fifi’s secret diary anymore!”
“Renée Sturme
Renée Sturme, a 17-year-old Dutch girl who is determined to be a designer, became a popular internet fashion icon. She said her style is mix-match, which is suitable. Everyone who sees her outfits will agree to that. Her mix-match style combines lots of different styles, which is hard to be defined. Maybe it is her unique Renée Style!”
These are all answers to questions (which are unfortunately not mentioned in the article, so I just made up the questions again, as far as I can remember), and some things must have been half by me & half made up (my words went from English to Chinese, and back from Chinese to English again), so please don’t attach too many importance to these words. Two examples of things I never said, at least definitely not in this way: I like Mary Kate Olsen’s style. She has a unique and funny clothing style and creation style. - Where is fashion, there is style.
“What Renée Sturme said:
Tell us something about yourself. I come from a small village in the south of the Netherlands. I love photography, styling, fashion designing and blogging. I work for an online vintage shop two days a week. On Saturday I go to school.
Where do you find your inspiration? I can get inspiration from everything. When inspiration occurs, it stays in my mind until I make it come to reality.
What do you love to do? Besides designing, I really like traveling, making friends with interesting people and finding something entertaining in this small village.
What do you like about your job? I love the diversity of my work. One moment I’m making jewelry, the next moment I’m reviving vintage things, then photographing a model.
What are your favorite materials? My favourite things are golden chains and cotton.
What did you like to become as a little child? When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an artist, adventurer and princess. I liked to dress up barbies and photograph them.
What are your favorite gadgets? My favorite gadgets are my iPod Touch and Canon EOS 450D. I can’t live without them!
—? I only wear the clothes I want to wear.
What do you collect? I collect all the things I love, like unique shoes, beautiful pictures, vintage camera’s and kitschy porcelain cats.
What is your favorite little thing? My favourite little thing is a watch. If I don’t wear a gold watch, I feel pretty much naked.
Who are your favorite style icons? I like Mary Kate Olsen’s style. She has a unique and funny clothing style and creation style.
Who influenced you and your style? No one really had a big influence on me and my style. My mom passed away when I was thirteen years old, so I needed to grew up and improve everything on my own. I needed to complete things all by myself.
—? Where is fashion, there is style.
Where would you like to live / which cities do you like? I’d love to live in Amsterdam. The city’s really beautiful and entertaining. I also love New York. If I could spend two months a year at New York, that would be great.
Explain your style. I love to mix different styles together, like flashy colours from the 80′s, simplicity from the 90′s and hippie elements from the 70′s. I wish I look very unique!
What would you like to do in the future? I wish I could work for big brands. At the same time, I would like to be a stylist, photographer, jewelry designer, shoe designer and clothing designer. Though I know it is impossible so I need to choose.
What can’t you live without? I can’t live without music.”
