Design #1

maart 31, 2008

Today’s the kick-off of my fashion designs. Please remember I made all sorts of items, all in a different style, so it’s not a collection! I was just trying out different things.

Styling, photography and modelling are all by me. “Really, is that you?”. Yeah, it’s quite obvious right, but I just needed to mention, haha.

A bit fairy, hippie, romantic, with a hint of Hawaï, just something I came up with when I woke up and made the same day at the Bas Kosters fashion workshop. There’s a cute pleats-detail on the back which you can’t see on the pictures though.

Oh, and not to forget, you haven’t seen those shoes yet. I bought those a while ago at ArtToBe, for only €15, though they retailed for about €300, but the store was closing down. Only one thing, they’re a size 41! Haha, I just needed to own them although I’m a size 39! How bad!

I want

These gorgeous Patrizia Pepe wedges. Tan, turquois, wedge, straps, buckle, gold, YUM. Perfect combo. Too bad they’re €339.

Fashion show & debut of my Selina-dress

maart 30, 2008

First about my dress. I bought this vintage prom beauty from Selina a while ago, actually a quite long while ago, but I wanted to wait till the right time for showing off this cutie. I love the tight black body combined with the oh-so big ruffle skirt. The skirt has some kind of polkadots on it, only these are squares, not dots. I felt great in it! And even my dad thought the same way and couldn’t stop saying how good it looked on me! Yes, my dad!

Today was the day of my fashion show in Sittard. This morning I forgot the time had changed, it was an hour later than expected, so I got up at 10:00, instead of 09:00. Problems. I didn’t have the time to do my hair, and just clamped it together, and some other things I still wanted to do couldn’t be done.

I was happy to have those kind (and tall) models (though one didn’t show up, but it worked out well finally), but I really need to prepare myself better the next time. The models did really well, very nice girls, but because it was my first show ever, some things went wrong, but that was my fault. A big thanks to my models, again! Though, it was a good experience, and like I said I can only get better, I learned a lot of today.

My dad couldn’t really shoot some good pictures, so I’ll have to wait till the photographers put those on a website. There were some really good fashion shows, but hey, those were from Fashion Design students. I didn’t really think it was fair that the limit was set at ‘18 years old’ instead of ‘high school’, as that would definately be more fair, because I as a 16 year old was now competing against some real Fashion students.

Isn’t this picture a bit Princess of (Punk?)Rock or something? Haha. Promdress and a biker jacket, I think they look great together. By the way, I went ‘all’ black because my models’ outfits were all very colorful.

Dress, jewelry: Vintage
Bolero: Vero Moda

I love the design of the cape/scarf.

That top to the left and that cardigan to the right, YUM!

ArtEZ

maart 29, 2008

As this look was quite much adored by all of you, I wore it to my admission for Fashion Design at ArtEZ Arnhem, a Dutch Academy of Arts. Unluckily I didn’t get through the admission, as they thought I was too young and not ’developed’ enough. I couldn’t prove otherwise, cause their first look at my work determined the rest. Too bad they worked that way.

It was really bad they only looked at the number of my age. “17 in a month? So you’re only 16 right now?”. You know, in that way. They didn’t even think of me being possibly more mature than others of my age. I lost my mother at the age of 13, the time you actually really start developing, and then suddenly you are alone, wihout a mother supporting you. Everything I do, I do it on my own, I’m so independant, but they only see the number 16.

First I got quite emotional, but after an hour I just thought “So what, life goes on and I only get better by the day”. I didn’t post last night because I just wanted to watch television and have nothing to do with fashion for one night.

Edit, 22:02: There are only 44 places by the way, 2 classes in total. So out of the 800 applies, there isn’t a big chance you get in.

Dress: Customized vintage
Cardigan: Second-hand
Floral tights: Trasparenze
Jewelry: Self-made, old stuff, vintage
Shoes: Kenneth Cole

New thrifts

Of last Wednesday. All of these, for just €1 in total. I bought the clip earrings to make some buttons of, to glue on bags and purses. I could only find one of each, so. The floral picture in the frame is printed on a tile.

Miu Miu tri-color patent platforms

Who wouldn’t want these? Gosh. Too bad they’re €490. I’m sure Wendy Brandes will have them in a few days, haha. 14cm heels, 2.5cm platforms.

10% discount @ H&M

I don’t know if this is for foreigners too. At least to the Dutch people: Use code 8036 to get a 10% discount on every item that is not on sale.

maart 27, 2008

Yay, I’ve reached the 700 posts. Cool dude. OK, now stop being silly.

And, there’s another shot to vote for (click HERE). Thanks for voting on the other ones of course, and I would love to see that number of votes on this one too! Only takes five seconds, just click the little dot, and do me a huge favour! Thanks.

Oh, and sorry for not posting an outfit shot. Of course I did wear clothes today, and they weren’t like boring, but I needed to take some more shots of my designs, and changed without taking a shot of my daily wear.

Bleached hotpants

Aren’t these just so cool for summer? Topshop, £25. With a cute floaty peach hippie top? If you throw ‘m in the mix with synthetic tops, they would look really trashy, but I think you can mix them up really nicely with some hippie-style.

London Fashion Week Fall 2008 - House of Holland

The outfits below are only my picks, only my favorites, it’s not an over-all look of the complete collection. Click the designer for the full collection.

House of Holland: Nice collection, though not really my thing. I absolutely love the fourth picture, but I actually think the bright blue & yellow plaid is used a bit too much.

Fashionshoot

maart 26, 2008

I planned to finally do my photoshoot today, of my fashion designs. Too bad the Dutch weather stroke again, it rained the whole day long! At about 18:20, the rain stopped for half an hour and I was able to take some shots. 20 minutes later I needed to stop shooting cause it was getting too dark…

So I’ll take the rest tomorrow, though it will probably be raining the whole day, again. Today’s outfit is slightly granny inpired, I’m really into pastels right now.

I’m really happy with the results of the pictures I took by the way, but you guys will have to wait till Monday!

Floral dress, boots: Vintage
Cardigan, grey dress, belt: H&M

I somehow took my colorful & joyful jewelry off, too bad they’re aren’t in the shot.

Snow?

My cat Romeo really enjoyed the snow, it was the first time he met the white powdery cold stuff. He was totally fascinated by it, and wanted to cath each snowflake.

So, I put him on the table, and he just didn’t know what to do. Like “Oh my gosh, here’s even more. What the hell do I need to do with all this?!”. And then, after a few minutes, he ‘discovered’ snow at the top of a chair, and there was no way he wasn’t going to hit it off the chair. There was snow everywhere, but he only wanted to get the snow that was laying right there, he didn’t care about the rest anymore.
